Works well, lid needs work, very hackable
This works – it does exactly what it says it does and does so reliably. You will spend some time pushing some buttons near the base of this to get it set up: You need to set the time on the clock, and you need to set up at least one feeding event.You can configure up to 6 feeding events; each one has a time of day and an amount of “servings”. A “serving” is two rotations of the dispensing mechanism, and you can go up to 12 (which would be a couple of very full bowls). You can record a greeting for your fur babies as well – to give them some additional queue that the food dispenser has dispensed something. The unit actually includes a coin cell battery to keep settings intact through a power glitch. The D cells assure that the motor has power as well, so your cats will not go hungry through a power outage. This all works great.The lid needs work – there are two issues as I see it. 1: You really have to use two hands to get it to lock and unlock – it does not turn very smoothly. That’s actually great for keeping the cats out of the goodies, but not so fun for when you need to refill it. 2: The desiccant holder lid has a similar problem – it’s in way too snugly and neither the instructions nor the markings on the lid itself give any clue as to the proper way to remove it. Short version: one of the tabs broke the first time I attempted to do so. It’s a minor thing, but annoying (I have a 3d printer – can fix). It is for these two things in combination with the price that I’m deducting one star.If you are into hacking (raises hand), this thing is a treasure trove. I’ve included photos of the base both inside and out. The jist of it is this: it’s gonna be child’s play replacing the stock logic with an ESP based (wifi-enabled) SOC thing and control it from my lan. I’ve included some photos. If you want to replace the logic, there’s just a 5v DC motor with a limit switch on a cam follower, and the motor shaft itself engages with the dispensing mechanism via a large shape-fitting shaft adapter. That, in combination with the fact that the rest of the unit is pretty well built (all the stuff above the drive base save for the lid on the desiccant holder is solid impact resistant plastic and silicone), means this thing is going to be kind of amazing once I put my own network connected logic into it.In fact I’m getting on that right now. It’s got room for improvements like lights and sensors and whatnot and that’s where I’m going. It would not surprise me to find the manufacturer well into projects like that as well, but DIY is a blast isn’t it :)I’ve attached some photos for fellow hackers. Four stars.

when u have little ones that is, pets, i mean, haha. anyway, yes this is such a great invention! there have been auto pet feeders around for years, but NOT programmable ones! which is amazing & wonderful. it gives u all of the control over feeding your pet(s), which was the problem w/the older models. my mom, years ago had 1 of the old school ones for her cat when she went out of town (which u can SO easily do w/this & your pets & not have to worry & they can hear your voice too! wonderful), but my mom’s version that she had the pet food just comes out non-stop, no control, just how much the pet eats, then more floods in. her cat got really fat!! she traveled a lot, for work, so not much choice. HE was happy though, the cat. 😉 this one is controlled, so your cat or pets can only get so much food, for their health. good health!i think the quality is great, it’s easy to use & set up. just set the clock & follow along w/the rest. it’s not as black as i would like, but whatever, no biggie. they should however work on the top of the feeder! i think the value is pretty darn good as well. i have seen many of these for VERY high prices! so it’s not bad in comparison. 🙂

Comedero perfecto fácil de configurar,lo tengo programado para 4 comidas a 10g de principio ya que tengo 2 gatos y 1 es 1 glotón así con este Comedero puedo tenerlo a dieta jajajaja espero que dure unos meses buenos ya que el precio me parece muy bueno en comparación con otras marcas
