I’d give it 10 stars if there’s such option
I was taking my 5-year-old-to-be 19lbs schnauzer to Europe for her birthday and shopping for a good travel carrier that she would actually go in and remain inside. She’s a support dog so she’s never been in any carrier during US domestic travels and she’s been pretty much everywhere in the US. However, while she is allowed to travel in cabin w/o being inside of a carrier, she’s required to have tickets when we ride trains together. The cost is about $37 a day, quite hefty. However, as long as she remains in a bag or basket then she rides for free. Before I ended up getting this carrier, i tried at least two other types from Amazon, both are the backpack type and failed. She would fight her life not going in, let along stay in. Finally, came across this crate carrier and was complete life saver, arrived really quickly and surprisingly sturdy as hell. Took about 2 tries to get her go in and quickly became comfortable with it. She would even go in on her own, waiting for treat. The crate has a very firm base and very comfy to sit in. It’s very lightweight and spacious to use as a travel bag when she doesn’t need to be inside. So I ended up using it as my overnighter a lot on this trip. I ran into people at the airport carrying exactly the same bag. This thing rocks, and way underpriced. I paid $28 for it and I believe it should’ve been double the cost considering the material and quality of this bag. Highly recommended.

I Love it and My Cat Does Too
This carrier is great! It’s roomy enough for a small cat or dog (though if your pet is more than 12 lbs, I suggest the next size up). It’s sturdy, but light, and easy to lift and store. The shoulder strap is handy, but not overly long and the padding around the handle is comfortable even with the add weight of your pet. The mesh screen keeps your pet comfy, but is not easy to break through (granted our cats were calm enough not to claw or bite at it (you may need extra lining if your pet is really determined to bust out). I love the dual openings. The top flap is great for when I need to place my cat in or lift her out on trips to the vet or groomer, and when I’m okay with her taking her time she can walk in or out herself through the front opening. I like having a short leash built in so I can clip her harness in and know she can’t run off the moment I open the cage. (You can even clip your pet’s leash to them first before unclipping them from the carrier to keep pets prone to running extra safe). The fleece lined bottom is soft enough that our cats like to nap on it, and easy to remove and wash. These carriers aren’t too bulky, so storage is easy, but they can’t be collapsed, so you will need a fair bit of closet space to stash them in (you could always keep other per supplies inside them or just leave them out and open for your pet to sleep in. If you drape a blanket over them, these carriers make good kitty caves). I would highly recommend these. They are so much better than those awful plastic pet crates.

Good Carrier. Quite acceptable.
Purchased the Large Carrier for a Standard/Mini dachshund mix: 17 lb dog/ 24″ long. Fit just fine. It met airline requirement of the dog being able to comfortable turn around.I had to force this carrier under the seats. That was fairly easy because the body of the carrier is flexible. Thankfully my feet could still squeeze in alongside the carrier… Just make sure that the zipper is facing toward you so you can let them pop their faces out at you if they need comforting. You will not be able to easily turn the carrier once it is under the seat.OK, so my only issue is that the base is attached flimsily with 4 small velcro attachments in the 4 corners. As a result, the sherpa gets pushed to the side and wadded under the dog whenever they wiggle… Or if you are in my camp, you may have a burrowing dog (dachshund-type, terrier-types) and they get stimulated by it and begin pulling it up and trying to dig. The Sherpa padding is also quite thin. It does not do much to encourage them to “get cozy.” It also does not really meet the requirement of being an emergency bathroom pad, which is an airline requirement…I would encourage amazon to amend that and make the padding thicker and more firmly attached.I am also not crazy about the strap…. But I am have no neck/shoulder problems so it was fine.If you have a stubborn breed (dachshund, terrier) you may like to hear what worked for me when it came down to introducing the carrier: I had great success with just leaving the carrier out in a random room with a piece of kibble in the back. Top open and front open. I came in the room later in the day and he was licking it all over on the inside, which is his way of getting familiar and leaving his mouth scent for later. Great! We had very little flight anxiety, overall. I was able to unzip the top enough for him to pop his head out as we flew.Note: My husband and I both took turns sleeping in a t-shirt the 2 days before and then put it into the carrier just before we put him in on the day of the flight… He covered his face with it and slept through the whole 6 hours. Seems like it worked out ok. Our dog isn’t terribly anxious, though. So I am not sure how that might go for others, but it worked well for us.Altogether I am very pleased with this purchase. This carrier is affordable, gets the job done, and the velcro thing is easy to alter for the mischievous dogs.Hope this helps. 🙂
