Exactly what we needed! Strong clasp and heavy leash.
Rugged and easy to use! Be warned if you clip this to a harness with 2 D rings that come together in the back then the clasp will spread open when the dog pulls on it. I’ve solved this by running the clasp through one D ring and clipping it to the other so it still pulls on both. The Traffic handle is not too low or short – I am 6’2″ and it is easy to hold the dog close when needed.

I love Carhartt products. Right now I’m wearing a Carhartt T-shirt and on top of that is a Carhartt sweatshirt and that’s typical for me. When I saw there was a Carhartt dog leash, I immediately bought one (about two weeks ago). By the look of this Carhartt clasp design, I thought it must be as solid as a tank.I was walking my dog on the leash about 5 days ago and he started pulling in the direction of a pedestrian. We were on the sidewalk right by the street and traffic was thick. I pulled back on the leash to keep him off the person and he instantly got off the leash!! I convinced myself I must have attached the clasp to his collar instead of the metallic D-ring on the collar; and I chalked it up as my fault.Yesterday, we were walking again and my dog again pulled away from me. When I pulled back to restrain him, he instantly got off the leash again! I thought this time, it must not be my fault. I knew there was a problem.I put the clasp back on his D-ring and then I could see that as he pulls away from me and I pull back on the leash, the Carhartt clasp opens up just because of being pulled in opposite directions. It doesn’t matter if the opening lever on the clasp is pressed down or not. If this clasp gets pulled in two directions, it will pull open and allow the dog off the leash. I’m lucky that both times this happened I was able to grab my dog and prevent him from running into the oncoming fast traffic which was not even eight feet away from where we were walking.This clasp is present on all Carhartt leashes that I can see on Amazon, Chewy, etc. Some Carhartt leashes have two clasps, but one of them is always this particular clasp. This clasp is poorly engineered and a danger to your dog. DO NOT BUY A LEASH WITH THIS CARHARTT CLASP ON IT (or any with this design). If you have one of these DO NOT USE IT. Cut up the leash and throw it away. Do not give it to anyone else to use. This clasp can be lethal for your dog. It needs to be recalled and never duplicated.See the video and you will understand the way the Carhartt clasp fails.

Attractive but Could be better
Very handsome leash. The metal attachment is heavy duty and the leash itself seems very durable. Took off one star because there’s no metal ring near the handle to hang a waste bag dispenser. I also wish the handles were padded.
