Excellent Quality for a LOW Price
We have several vehicles and 2 dogs, but only one dog hammock, so ordering a second hammock for my car made sense. This one was listed at a price much lower than the first one we purchased, so I was a little hesitant… until it arrived. Wow! This was a great buy!- This pet hammock is the perfect dimensions for my Audi Allroad. It perfectly fits the space that spans the rear seats and footwells. While the back seats are a reasonable size for a dog, the added space over the footwells make the area comfortable for both dogs. And, the pet hammock protects my leather from scratches and marks.- The craftsmanship is impeccable! The quality of the stitching, fabric, straps, attachments, hardware, etc. is all in line with much more costly pet hammocks. The zippers are much better than those on my other pet hammock. They are larger, operate more smoothly, and have larger, stronger teeth and pulls. The fabric is thick and the stitching is perfect. No loose strings!- I must admit that when I opened the package I was initially disappointed in what looked like small corrugated plastic panels (to make the base rigid). However after installing them and testing them with both of my dogs (totally nearly 200 lbs.!) I was sold on their ability to hold up under their weight.- The hammock is so easy to assemble and install. Simply slide two of the plastic panels into a metal bar and insert the 3 parts into one of the sewn pockets on the base. Zip them closed. Then hang the front, back and optional side straps and you’re done. I like the adjustability on the headrest straps and the durability of the plastic buckles. The side straps are optional, but we do use them to keep dog claws from inadvertently scratching the interior of the doors and door handles. We hang ours from the overhead grab handles in the back seat, but you have other options. These straps are also adjustable. See photo of installation instructions.- There are 2 storage pockets (one behind each front seat) that we do not use. However, we do like the mesh panel between the front seats which allows our dogs to “see” out the front window and to feel a bit more connected to us on longer trips. One thing that some might “miss” is that the mesh is in-line with the pocket and does not have a zipper for pass-through. Personally I feel this is an essential safety feature. If you have to stop fast, you pet will not become a projectile due to a slipped or broken zipper on the mesh section.- Speaking of safety, there are two seatbelt slots that are velcro sealed upon delivery. The velcro is very strong! Once we wrestled it open, we were able to install the pet seat belts (straps that attach to the harness to prevent a pet from escaping the back seat). I wish the openings were longer to accommodate for a wider variety of rear seatbelt placements. As it is, we had to force one of them sideways a bit in order to get the seatbelt receptacle into a reasonable position for the pet seatbelt installation. It’s a minor complaint considering the exceptional quality of the product overall.- Lastly, we faked a “spill” to see how easy the fabric is to clean. I’m happy to report that it appears to be moisture resistance (no absorption) and easy to wipe clean. Hopefully we never have a need to further test how easy it is to clean!Would I purchase this pet hammock again! Absolutely! The price is more than reasonable considering the quality of this product.
