This Ointment Heals
My dog has patchy, thin coat areas of excessively dry skin that happens every year at this time for the past three years. It’s hard to find something that delivers deep moisture that she can use to both relieve the discomfort and restore her dry skin to a soft, supple and balanced texture. This paw and nose balm does the job. After just three days of applying this ointment directly to the skin beneath her coat twice a day, I could tell the difference in the texture of her skin.What I love most about this ointment is that the application is clean and fast-absorbing. I used to melt food grade coconut oil and apply it directly to her skin, but you can imagine how messy that got and how the coconut oil transferred to furniture, linens, and dog beds. I need so little of this balm, comparatively speaking, that it stays where I put it and it seems to absorb quickly so our furniture and linens don’t get greasy at all.A little goes a long way. I just rub my thumb into the balm to collect some product and then I rub my coated thumb onto my dog. I also use this on my dog’s nose, as part of her self-care routine, though it is not my pup’s problem area. This product seems like it will last awhile in addition to being effective. The production and expiration dates are printed on the box. The product has a 3 year shelf life. That there are two tins inside the package is a good value.

Excellent protection from the elements while moisturizing paws
I ordered the Lick-Safe Dog Paw & Nose Balm for my little Pomeranian dog who is very active outdoors all year round. He loves to lick everything, so the lick safe all natural ingredients were very important to me. The product arrived in a box with 2 tins. The manufactured and expiration dates are clearly marked on the box and tins with a shelf life of 3 years and a reminder to use within 12 months of opening.Initially upon opening the tin I was greeted by a strong and slightly unpleasant waxy odor. The odor does seem to lessen significantly over time in the tin and also when applied to dogs paws and nose. The product is a firm, solid balm (think of a firmer Chapstick consistency) with a non greasy moisture finish. In my experience of using this for over a week I suggest to apply it by rubbing your fingertips in the balm, rubbing your fingers together to warm it up and soften it, then gently massage into paws/nose. (Your furry friend will appreciate the more gentle rub as opposed to rubbing the solid balm more vigorously into their skin.) I use it twice daily or more depending on the weather. And IF your dog can tolerate booties or socks, that will really aid in its effectiveness by allowing it to penetrate deeper.I tested this on the back of my hand on one half before using on my dog, I ran water over my hand and you can see from the photo attached that the left side where the balm was placed repels the water. That barrier protection is what I think helps to keep the paws soft when exposed to rough terrain, allergens, water, salt and chemicals on our daily walks.My dog did not have any cracks on his paws before we started to use this balm so I can’t attest to if it heals cracks. It does help soften hard, dry paws as my dog had with consistent use at least twice daily. Patience and consistency is key to seeing results with this versus expecting an overnight miracle. I also noticed that my dog didn’t seem to care about licking his paws after the second or third application and I have not noticed any greasy spots on my floors or bedding.It’s a decent and safe product that I would recommend. The odor and ease of the product application could use some improvement (like putting it in a stick form for easier application), so for those 2 cons, I’m taking off one star.

Moisturizing Dog Pad Balm
Winter in Wisconsin isn’t easy on anyone, but our dogs have it the toughest. My 14-year-old big boy has problems with both back feet. One foot has a benign tumor that caused his toes to shift (much like arthritis does), and the other foot has a chronically cracking toenail.I have tried shoes, traction stickers, traction socks, etc. I found that his own paws, despite all of his problems, have the best traction and bother him less. He does, however, develop dryness and mild cracking on his pads. I thought I’d try this paw balm to see if it improved the appearance and helped decrease the dryness of his pads.The paw balm looks and feels like white wax, similar to other products I’ve gotten before. It says it is lick-safe because the only ingredients are Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Extract, Hydrogenated Sunflower Seed Oil, Vitamin E, Candelilla Wax, and Olive Oil.I tried it on one toe of his right hind foot. It did seem to make the pad more moist-looking. It didn’t hurt him or cause him to react in any way.The price is on the high side, but you get two cans of balm.
