My two cats absolutely love the taste of this toothpaste and since I’ve been brushing their teeth with it for the past 10 days I’ve seen an improvement on their teeth removing plaque deposits.I have learned a lot in the past several days about Sodium Hydroxide in toothpastes. If sodium hydroxide is added to bring the pH to 6.5-7.5 (by neutralizing the acid present) then it will be listed as an ingredient, but actually will not be present, having been used up. That’s the important fact.Here is a great explanation for it from Tom’s of Maine:SODIUM HYDROXIDESodium hydroxide (NaOH) is a white, waxy, opaque, odorless crystal consisting of sodium ions and hydroxide ions. It is also known as lye or caustic soda and used in many industries, for pH adjustment, to purify drinking water, in household cleaners, and in soap-making.WHAT DOES IT DO?It is a highly versatile ingredient available in a wide range of grades and concentrations. At its highest levels it is very caustic and can be used as a drain cleaner, but at dilute levels it is safe for handling and food preparation.In Tom’s products, dilute levels of sodium hydroxide are used to adjust the pH level in some of our oral care products, which is done to improve the overall efficacy of the product. When dissolved the hydroxide portion of the compound reacts with acids to form water. The pH is adjusted (becomes more basic) as some of the acid is eliminated.It is also a key ingredient to preparing many special food items. Good with taking out debris and food but no big difference
My dogs never got sick using this which is great. I love the smell and the consistency and color. This really doesn’t seem like a super fake cheap toothpaste. I used this in my mouth first to make sure it was as advertised. Tasted like real coconut oil mixed with natural ingredients. My dogs were grossed out. I did not notice a difference in there teeth but I’m sure it has good benefits that I can’t see. I use an ultrasonic hand tool to take plaque out my dogs teeth this toothpaste alone won’t help. In general no brushing alone on dogs teeth when they eat with wet food all day helps fully you have to use a leave in gel and ultrasonic tool from amazon. Dog and cat don’t seem to mind it
My dog absolutely loves the taste of it. Don’t know if it’s working as should, I need to be consistent with brushing his teeth, but I can say this is the first that he didn’t run away from or tried to avoid and that’s a plus in my opinion!

Apparently tastes too good to one of my cat
One of my cat absolutely loves the taste. He’s a bit of a foodie and will eat anything so it makes sense. Personally, the rest of us don’t love the smell but clearly he does and it’s meant for his teeth. It seems to be working on cleaning his teeth, we use a toothbrush with this.I usually let my cat lick a little first and then I brush his teeth. He tries to keep licking it so it is a bit hard to actually brush if his tongue is in the way so maybe it tastes too good.Our other cat doesn’t like it at all and when he smells it, he’ll back away.

I had originally purchased beef flavor, toothpaste, which my dog hated. I was afraid he just hated having his teeth brushed, but I looked online and found that the taste of coconut most dogs like so I ordered this product. He loves it. He gets excited now to brush his teeth because he knows he’s gonna get this toothpaste.

My dog actually let me brush his teeth with this, which is already a win. The coconut oil + chicken flavour combo seems to make it more like a treat than a chore, and his breath is way fresher after just a couple of uses. The texture is smooth and easy to spread on a brush or even a finger brush. I like that the ingredients list looks safe and simple — no fluoride, no weird chemicals.Only downside is it doesn’t come with a brush, so you’ll need to grab one separately. But overall, it feels like a solid choice for keeping up with pet dental care at home without drama.
