Pricey, but good ingredients
As lifelong “big dog” parents, we believe in the value of joint supplements to reduce injuries and keep our pooches mobile, flexible, and comfortable. Our 60 lb female pittie is 13 years old so she has arthritis associated with her age and breed. Our 70 lb male pittie is only six years old, but had FHO surgery when he was three, so he has arthritis and joint issues, too. Both of them have been on another popular joint supplement since we adopted them. That one has a startup dose for the first four to six weeks (3 tablets daily), then a lower dose for maintenance (1 tablet daily), based on their weight. The Spirited Paw supplement recommends six tablets per day, based on my dogs’ weight, which would make this just over a week’s supply for my two dogs. However, when I compared the ingredients/amounts, I determined that just two tablets of Spirited Paw would give them more glucosamine and almost the same amount of chondroitin as the one tablet of their usual supplement. That changes the bottle of 100 tablets to a 25 day supply for both dogs. Here’s the breakdown:2 tablets of Spirited Paw:- 450mg Glucosamine Sulfate x 2 = 900mg (compared to 600mg Glucosamine Hydrochloride in 1 tablet of the other brand)- 147mg Chondroitin Sulfate x 2 = 294mg (compared to 300mg Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate in 1 tablet of the other brand)- 5mg Vitamin C x 2 = 10mg (not listed for other brand)- 5IU Vitamin E x 2 = 10IU (not listed for other brand)- The other brand also includes 250mg methylsulfonylmethane, 6mg sodium hyaluronate, and 3mg manganese, which are NOT listed for Spirited Paw.I will use up this bottle, but will then go back to my usual supplement since that one includes MSM and has a much lower price point (roughly $8/month for my two dogs vs. the Spirited Paw, which is $46/month for my two dogs). As far as the taste test goes, the results are the same as every other type of pill/supplement I have ever given to these two: the non-picky eater takes the Spirited Paw supplements like snacks, while the picky eater requires them to be broken in half, covered with peanut butter, and hidden in his food. These tablets are thinner than the other brand I use, which makes them easier to break for Mr. Picky.

Dog chews
My dogs do not like the taste of these so I haven’t been able to consistently try them out. There isn’t much they will not eat

Boy are these stinky!! But my dogs seem to like them
I have large breed dogs which inherently have joint issues. On top of that, one of them is a king shepherd which are basically born with bad hips. So I jumped at the chance to give these supplements a try before paying the vet prices for medications. The moment I broke the seal on this bottle, I got smacked in the face with the smell of these wafers. Not the most pleasant in the world. My puppy definitely didn’t like it at first either and spit it out on the floor before going back for it.The wafers are pretty small so they’re a good size for all size dogs in my opinion. You get used to the smell after a couple of times so it does get better, just be prepared for that first time! It’s been roughly a week since using these with my dogs and I will say I’ve noticed my older dog is a bit quicker to stand up from laying down. Not much, but there is a noticeable difference. He won’t be entering dog shows anytime soon, but anything helps!

I wish he would eat them
I waited a good amount of time to review these in the hopes of giving them a fair shot. My old man is 13 now and starting to struggle with hip issues. He won’t eat them and he’s not usually picky. I have so far been hiding them in whatever I can, but even then, he will spit them back out. I haven’t noticed any improvement anyway, despite consistent use and it’s just not worth the fight anymore. I wish I could have gone through the whole bottle before reviewing them, but sadly this is the best I can do. I will be giving the rest away and hopefully they will help some other senior pupper.

Good safety seal!
Spirited Paw Joint and Mobility wafers. Nicely packaged, and arrived promptly. Very good safety seal so no moisture or concerns. 100 ct per bottle. Very clear label with active ingredients and dosage listed on the side of the bottle. My big dog with hip issues won’t eat these by themselves like a treat but he’s picky, so I break them up easily and put them in his food bowl during feedings… what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him 😉 My younger dog would probably eat a raw onion and will eat these without hesitation so your mileage may vary but hiding them in food is easy. My oldest rattie just ate two without blinking. The wafers are about the size of a dime and slightly thicker. The scent is rather neutral and unoffensive to me. As far as effectiveness, only time will tell but I’ll keep my fingers crossed since two of three have no problems with them. With my situation, price is of little concern if they work so I’ll purchase again if I see any improvement. I wish you the best of results if your dog is in need of relief…

Dogs love them
Dogs love em. When I first opened the jar I was not to sure how easily they would be to give the pups because they are like wafers vs treats but the dogs love them. Not sure if the flavor is that good but I never have to fight them to take em.As far as working I’m not sure if they are but nothing has shown that they aren’t working. Poop is still the same, energy level is still the same so I feel good continuing to give them.

The Dogs Love Them!
I have tried a variety of things for my dogs joints. They are both GSDs, so it’s important to keep supplements in their diet since they are prone to hip and joint issues. What I love about these is that my dogs love them! I usually have to hide supplements in other treats or mix it in with their food, but they will eat these out of my food which is amazing! They definitely have a smell, so if you are sensitive to fishy smells then be warned that these definitely stink. I have noticed since giving these to my dogs that my older dog has been jumping more and making it up the steps more quickly. Because of this, I will be buying more soon! I think this is a great find and I recommend them to anyone looking to keep their dogs mobile!
