Pleasant Scent With Careful, Bed-Only Use
This ALFIE’S CHOICE Pet Calming Aromatherapy Spray smells genuinely lovely and creates a calming atmosphere, even if I haven’t noticed a dramatic behavioral change in my dog herself. The scent is soft and soothing rather than overpowering, which I appreciate, and it freshens her space nicely. I use it more as a comfort scent than a guaranteed calming solution. That said, this is a product where mindful use really matters. Several of the essential oils included can pose risks if ingested or applied directly to a dog’s skin. Because of that, I only lightly spritz it on her bed and make sure it’s dry before she uses it, so there’s no chance of licking it off the fabric. Used this way, I feel comfortable incorporating it into our routine. For anyone considering this spray, it’s important to be aware of the ingredients and use it thoughtfully. I’ve included safety notes below for transparency, since informed use makes all the difference. When used cautiously and in moderation, it’s a nice-smelling addition to my dog’s space.- Valeriana Officinalis (Valerian) Root Oil—May cause sedation, dizziness, or stomach upset if ingested; limited safety data for topical use in dogs.- Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil—Mildly toxic if ingested; may cause nausea, vomiting, or skin irritation.- Vetiveria Zizanoides (Vetiver) Root Oil—Limited data; may cause irritation or GI upset if licked.- Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Oil—Contains linalool and eugenol, which can be harmful to dogs in higher amounts.- Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Oil—Known to be toxic to dogs; ingestion may cause vomiting, weakness, breathing issues, or tremors.- Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil—Generally tolerated topically in small amounts, but ingestion can cause stomach upset or rare neurologic effects.- Boswellia Serrata (Frankincense) Oil—Limited data; typically low toxicity, but may still irritate skin or the GI tract.

Might work for some but it didn’t work for mine.
My dogs were not impressed, unfortunately. I sprayed it on their blankets they lay on and they got real suspicious and looked at me like, “Ewww what did you do to my bed????” and they refused to lay down on them. Tried it in our car for a road trip and was met with the same attitude. Like people, what works for one may not work for another. I thought it smelled fine but they were not fooled. haha

Natural, Pleasant, and Easy to Use. A Gentle Calming Option.
efore buying ALFIE’S CHOICE Pet Calming Aromatherapy Spray, I actually looked into the ingredients. Lavender, ylang ylang, vetiveria, and frankincense. All perfectly normal essential oils, nothing scary or toxic. It’s meant to be a natural calming spray for pets, not some mystery chemical potion. What cracks me up are the people freaking out like they’re drinking the stuff. Who’s out here tasting their pet calming spray? You wouldn’t drink bleach or rub cleaning products on your skin to “test them out,” right? Same logic applies here. This is for aromatherapy, not a cocktail. Anyway, the spray smells exactly as expected earthy and relaxing. The bottle doesn’t leak, sprays evenly, and is super easy to use. I spray it around the room or on my dogs’ bedding or prior to car rides. I can’t say my pups suddenly turn into zen monks, but the atmosphere does feel calmer.

Safe and Affordable, but Didn’t Work for My Dog
I really wanted to like this pet calming spray, but unfortunately it didn’t seem to have any effect on my dog. While it’s currently very affordable at around $7 on sale, I didn’t notice any real calming results after using it.On the positive side, I don’t mind the scent at all, and I appreciate that it’s made with natural ingredients and is safe to use. It’s easy to apply and doesn’t cause any irritation.Overall, this might work better for other pets, but for my dog, it didn’t make much of a difference. It’s inexpensive and safe, just not effective in our case.

I think this will do the trick!
I have used calming sprays in the past. I make a few trips every year that have my cats and dog in the car for several hours, so keeping everyone calm for that trip is important! I haven’t used this yet for a trip, but I have tried it at home. I have recently introduced a new kitten into my home and things have been a little tense with getting my cats acclimated to the new addition. The old calming spray I had been using didn’t seem to work as well as I’d hoped, so I thought I’d try this one.The smell was definitely more potent than sprays I’ve used in the past, but not in a bad way. It has a clean lavender smell with what reminds me of a baby powder scent. I can be prone to being sensitive to strong smells and perfumes, but I didn’t mind this. The cats didn’t mind it either! Shortly after I sprayed a bit on their beds and blankets, they all settled down and have been napping and lounging quietly since!I feel like this will help keep the environment calm for the kitten introduction and also be very useful for those long drives, too! I saw no signs of staining from the spray. The sprayer put out a nice light mist of spray that doesn’t saturate the surface it is being sprayed on.With the experience I’ve had thus far, I am very pleased with the results of this spray and expect that it will be my new go-to for calming spray from now on!

Pleasant Fragrance, but Didn’t Have a Calming Effect for Our Dog
I ordered this for our poodle, hoping it might help calm him when he gets stressed by too much activity. While it may work for some pets, I didn’t notice much difference with ours. However, it does have a nice, light fragrance that’s great to use after a bath or when your dog has been outside in damp weather.Even though it didn’t have the calming effect I was hoping for, it’s still a pleasant product to freshen up your pup.
