This is the good my dog eats and Amazon is cheapest
I check Chewy and the local Petco/Persmart and it’s usually more pricey. Only time I remember it being little high was during Covid. That said, it’s more on the expensive side. I’ve been feeding this brand to my 11 year old GSD since she was a puppy, the fed her large breed, now senior. It’s expensive, but it really seems to be good quality dog food. I’ll probably always buy this brand for any future dogs I may have.

My dog has been eating Blue Buffalo for the last 10 years. No problems. I keep her on “Gluten Free” food.

Blue Buffalo has become the standard for quality dog foods in the past few years. It has been reflected in the significant increase in price and availability. There are also numerous different lines. This particular is the best food I could find for my 12 yo Norwich diagnosed with renal failure. After being prescribed the industry standard SD KD, and realizing the ridiculous cost for food made of the poorest quality products – I had to find an alternative. This product is low in phosphorus needed for dogs with kidney issues. She loves to eat the food (as well as her pack), and has been going strong for 2 years. She doesn’t have many teeth, but the pieces are fairly small. She is excited for every meal. Although I have seen some variation in the color of the product, it was nothing alarming. The product is never rancid – and doesn’t have a overpowering dog food smell. Subscribe and Save is usually a great way to go to save over retailer – and its delivered to the door!

Blue is all I feed
My dog has been on Blue since a puppy. I have changed the type as she has gotten older. Now a senior, I am reading that there is debate out there on whether senior dog food should contain less protein. My dog has lost a good amount of weight and muscle mass in her old age, that possibly may have been less impactful if she was getting proper protein. I would recommend reading more about this and decide whether you really need to move to less protein, given already existing kidney issues, or stay on the protein as long as you can. A part of me is regretting moving to senior when we did. Again, nothing against Blue, I think they make a great product, and we have been happy using for years now.

This Grain Free food stopped the mystery digestive issue
About 7 years ago my very healthy black lab developed an intolerance to the high end food she had been eating for four years. Lots of bloody, runny poop. The only thing that had changed in her world was we moved from a house to a condo. Anyway, we did blood tests, urine, poop, etc. and even my amazing vet was stumped so we started looking for new food. After several tries, all with high quality choices I discovered Blue Buffalo Grain-Free. There was instant relief. It has to be grain free though. Not sure why because she can eat bread, rice, pasta with no ill effects and I don’t really care about finding out why because as long as she’s on this she is happy and healthy. I recently switched to the senior version with no problem at all. Hope this is helpful to anyone else out there with a similar mystery.
