These clippers are well-made. They are solid in your hand without any twisting, which could happen with cheaper clippers.They cut smoothly because they are very sharp. But there is a guard that helps protect the dog’s nails so you don’t go to far.They are fairly easy to use, but there is one caveat. They stay spring-open. There is no way to keep them closed, no lock or anything.With smaller hands, it may be difficult to grasp both handles when fully opened, making any additional cuts a little difficult.We will never use the file as most dogs will not sit through that back-and-forth rubbing. Also, dog’s nails are meant to be filed naturally, on cement, pavement, floors, etc.

These nail clippers work really well for my pups and feel solid in your hand. These nail clippers are truly great quality and will absolutely stand the test of time with regular wear. You can feel quality in the make, and weight of the product. The metal blades/head is very solid and designed with safety in mind, enduring the angle of the blade is slanted so that only intentional cuts can be made. The blade will not cut anything that it isn’t specifically pointed toward its angle.I LOVE that a nail file is also included and has integrated storage for it built right into the bottom of the handles! That’s honestly the best part of this. The file itself is also a nice gauge, not thin and flimsy at all. Solid metal and etched with a pattern to aid in filing. Honestly, A+ for these features!The rubber coated plastic handle is also extremely solid and feels nice to hold. It’s got enough weight to it that it won’t fall out of your hands easily but not so heavy that it’s a chore to use or hold for a prolonged period of time. Nobody likes clipping their dog’s nails, least of all your dog. It’s stressful for all involved. But a well-designed set of nail clippers will make the task much less onerous and easier to do.It is crucial to dog health that nails be maintained, and you owe it to your furry friend to maintain their pet pedicure. :-)The SWIHAUK clippers are sharp, trimming my corgi’s thick nails cleanly and with no splitting. There is a built-in guide that keeps you from cutting too deeply and damaging the quick. But, as carpenters say, “measure twice, cut once. A visual check will ensure the safety guard is the correct depth for your pet. I think this would not work well on a tiny dog, as the depth is non-adjustable.A nail file is included to buff out any sharp edges, tho in my use I found the clippers cut cleanly and smoothly, and no touch-up was needed. I appreciated that the file can be stored in the handle, making it hard for me to misplace. :-)The handles are rubber-coated for a secure grip and to cushion your hand. The handles are wide enough that you can apply serious power to the blades, ensuring a swift, smooth cut.The clippers come with a silicon cap that protects the blades (and also protects you from stabbing yourself when you are digging through a closet, wondering where you put your clippers.) :-)While my corgi and I will never look forward to cutting his nails, the SWIHAUK nail clippers make this essential task less stressful for all involved. I’ve always been nervous about clipping my dog’s nails, but these actually made the process pretty easy. The blades are really sharp, so it cuts through the nail cleanly in one go instead of crushing it. The little safety guard is a lifesaver—it gives me a lot more peace of mind that I’m not going to accidentally cut too deep and hit the quick.The handles have a nice grip to them, so they don’t slip around in your hand, and the included nail file is a nice touch for smoothing out the edges afterward.
